Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, diced onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into four equal oval patties, about 1 inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the patties for about 4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through.
  4. Remove the patties and set aside. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté until caramelized (about 5 minutes).
  5. Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce while scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Bring to a simmer before returning the patties to the skillet.
  6. Simmer together for another 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
