Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix sugar and eggs until fluffy. Gradually add oil and vanilla extract, then mix in dry ingredients alternately with milk until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  5. Whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form; sweeten if desired.
