Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups filtered water (warm)
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. In another bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water until bubbly. Mix the yeast mixture into the flour until combined.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into two equal portions, shaping them into long loaves.
  5. On a floured baking sheet, let the shaped loaves rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Slash diagonal cuts on top of each loaf and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
