  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Sauté onions in a skillet over medium heat until translucent; add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. In a bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed onions and garlic, breadcrumbs, eggs, salt, and pepper; mix gently.
  4. Shape mixture into the prepared loaf pan.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard; brush half over the loaf.
  6. Bake for about 1 hour or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C), brushing with remaining sauce halfway through.
