  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • Your choice of toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil; mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap; let rise for about 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Grease a deep dish pan or cast-iron skillet with olive oil.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and stretch it into the prepared pan.
  7. Layer mozzarella cheese on the bottom, add pizza sauce and toppings. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
