  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (for topping)
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until combined. Blend in softened butter until crumbly.
  3. Stir in eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until just combined; do not overmix.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, and nuts (if using) for the topping.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared dish and sprinkle half of the topping mixture over it. Add the remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the topping.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature with freshly brewed coffee!
