Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 cups chopped green cabbage (about ½ head)
  • 1 medium sweet onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup shredded cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a splash of oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant, about 3–4 minutes.
  2. Increase the heat slightly and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon (5–7 minutes).
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage and pour in the tomato sauce, mixing well. Simmer for about 10 minutes until the cabbage is wilted.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and any preferred spices. Allow to simmer for an additional 5–10 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. If using cheese, sprinkle on top before serving and let it melt slightly.
